Classes and Workshops

The Oldman River Potters Guild organizes workshops, classes and other learning opportunities for its members and the community. Throughout its rich history, dozens of talented clay artists have shared skills and ideas through the guild.

FALL CLASSES ARE CURRENTLY FULL

WINTER CLASSES WILL BEGIN MID JANUARY

For Class Participants:

Regarding new COVID restrictions as of September 20th 2021.  

 

We have verified that our instructors meet AHS restriction exemptions and (are vaccinated as required)

In order for the classes and workshops to continue we will need  proof of your vaccination.    

We also want to make sure that all participants are comfortable with continuing the class.  

 

You must have received 1 dose of the vaccine and be able to provide proof of receiving their second dose by October 25 2021.  Please let us know if you are still comfortable attending and discuss any concerns with your instructor

  • Christmas Tree or Bell  Ornament Work Shop
    Nov 18, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
    Lethbridge, 4416 1 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB T1J 4B3, Canada
    Join us to create a hand built Christmas Tree or Bell. Bring a Flattened Cereal box and a pair of scissors if you are creating a tree. Please dress in clothes you don't mind getting a little messy in.
  • Children's Christmas Ornament Workshop
    Nov 20, 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM
    Lethbridge, 4416 1 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB T1J 4B3, Canada
    Join us to create simple handbuilt ornaments using the slab technique and cookie cutters. The ornaments you create will be bisque fired for you to pick up at a later date to take home and paint . Please bring a parent with you and dress in clothes you can get a little messy in.

Wheel Throwing Class

Beginner's Wheel Class

Try for the first time or build on your skills, come explore clay on the wheel with us!

Learn about the entire process, from raw clay to glazing, food safe pieces.

We will walk you through each step, giving you lots of time to practice. 

This class will run for 6 sessions

(Mondays)  

6:00 to 9:00 pm

The fee is $200.00

All Participants will receive a 1/2 box of M340 Clay and a Beginner Tool Kit.  Firings and Glaze Materials are provided to finish your wares.  This class will be limited to 10 people.

Hand Building Class

This class is designed to introduce the students to the complete ceramic cycle of form making, surface treatments, glazing and firing. You will learn methods such as pinch, coil, slab and their ceramic histories. More advanced participants can choose to investigate the use of templates and molds. 

These classes will run for 6 sessions

(Thursdays)  

6:00 pm to 9:00 pm

The fee is $200.00

All Participants will receive a 1/2 box of M340 Clay and a Beginner Tool Kit.  Firings and Glaze Materials are provided to finish your wares.  This class will be limited to 10 people.
