About the event

This class is intended to teach participants the foundations of hand-forming and surface decoration and introduce the background to kiln firing. Basic forming methods of slab, coil, hump and slump molds, altering and darting will be covered. Participants will decorate one of their pieces using colour transfer combined with sgraffito.

Projects such as plates, bowls, vases, tea cups, mugs, feet and handles are designed for beginner and intermediate-level makers. More advanced makers will look for inspiration from visual sources found in books, magazines, and journals brought to class. Class runs from Oct. 6th - Nov. 10th from 6-9 pm at the Oldman River Potters Guild (4416 - 1st Ave S, unit 2, Lethbridge, AB). Your instructor is Louise Cormier who will be assisted by Linda Spaller (registrations permitting). Maximum 10 participants.
